COURSES / WORSHOPS
Courses will be scheduled throughout the year based on demand. Feel free to request a custom workshop for yourself and your friends together. All facilitators are highly qualified and experianced trainers and teachers and have a current Working with Children Check or police check. All courses and workshops are available at waged and concession rates (for low income or health care card holders) and payment plans are available.
Cloak Making Course (Capped at 3 Participants) 10 x 2-3 hours - $250 (waged) and $150 (Concession)
Suitable for beginner and experienced sewers the course is held between February and May. It's a fun activity where participants will make a traditional Kinsale Cloak, or other cloak of their choosing, over 10 sessions. Participants will be guided through the process by an experienced cloak maker. Cloaks will be complete in time for the Winter Solstice. Included is all tuition and support and access to a traditional Kinsale cloak patern. The first sesion involves a field trip to a fabric shop to purchase materials. The nine remaining sessions include a delicious light meal each evening. Participants will supply their own materials and equipment, however some recycled fabric and thread may be available at low or no cost for those on very low incomes. Should you wish to access any free/low cost recycled materials please mention this when you make contact. Donations of materials for low income participants are also welcome.
She Has Many Faces (Capped at 6 Participants) 2 hours
Journey back in time to consider depictions of the Goddess since the the rise of human civilization. Consider how She has been depicted across the globe. In many parts of the world Her whorship has been supresed and in other places it is still a living tradition. Reconnect with the Goddess through you're own heritage.
Wheel of the Year Candelabra (Capped at 5 Participants) 2 x 2 hours
Join this small group, two session workshop to make your own candelabra that enables you to chart the course of a solar year. Crafted from recycled and inexpensive materials that use customized color and symbolism particular to your own practice.
Acknowledgment of Country (Capped at 5 participants) 2 hours - Free
Join the many Australians growing their awareness of Indigenous Australia. Trace your journey through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Country and explore your family history in relation to the Indigenous communities on whose land they lived. Develop your own Acknowledgement of Country to use at family events and in ritual. Explore the notion of cultural appropriation and learn to avoid it.
Creating Sacred Spaces: Altars, Temples, Groves and Gardens (Capped at 7 Participants) 2 hours
This workshop, lead by a trained architect, will use guided meditation to assist you to discover your own vision of sacred space and then explore pratical ways to achive that vision at a variety of scales and with a range of materials.
Drumming Group (Capped at 5 participants) 1 hour
A group for beginner drummers who want to dip into the meditative state sustained drumming can induce. Drums available for use. If you're looking for a drumming teacher ask us for a referral.
Depicting Goddess (Capped at 3 participants) 3 hours
After exploring a range and Goddess depictions from different cultures, participants will undertake a guided meditation to discover their own vision of Goddess. Using a range of modeling and drawing materials they will preserve that vision in an icon of their own making.
Wheel of the Year Course (Capped at 6 Participants) 8 x 2 hours
During the year a series of workshops will be held focusing on history, traditions and crafts linked to the seasons. These events will be facilitated by two local witches and draw upon Australian and International sources.
The Power of the Full Moon (Capped at 7 Participants) 3 hours
An exploration of contemporary full moon stories and female practice in remnant Western indigenous traditions. How do witches and Goddess worshipers use Full Moon ritual as a stragegy for empowerment? In this workshop you'll explore a variety of ideas, some ritual technique and write a custom ritual to enact on the next full moon (suitable for group or individual use).
Celebrating the Dark Moon (Capped at 7 Participants) 3 hours
Goddess Songs and Chants (Capped at 5 participants) 2 x 1 hour
Through their natural effect on the body singing and chanting have the capacity to heal, calm and relax and help individuals make spiritual connections. Come and learn and practice a selection of Goddess songs and chants for use in meditation and contemporary ritual.
